Bully Program at School
17 year old GenerationOn Ambassador and Hall of Fame Inventor Tharon Trujillo, saw a need to Stop the Bullying Now. He was bullied because of his speech disability and he was overweight. It all changed when his close friend who was bullied committed suicide at the end of his Freshman year.
Tharon's program talks about the effects of bullying but how he was able to create a road map out of it.
1. Works with school officials, mental health, youth, other community leaders and counselors to develop policies and rules (if needed).
2. Weekly program - The program is youth lead with adult oversight, the students discuss the effects of bullying, they discuss how to be an upstander and not a bystander, makes pathways to special opportunities, has a character development piece and reinforces positive social interactions and inclusiveness.
3. Assembly - He puts together a 30 to 45 minute assembly program as a stand alone or in coordination with other groups. He talks about bullying, his story and how students can get involved and do what he is doing.
Tharon's program is unique, because he is a student who has lived through bullying and now teaches others on how to be an upstander and SPEAK UP! Bullies think they have the power but they don't, we do and if Bullies knew that bullying could kill, maybe they would think twice. There are many programs that talk about bullying, but don't talk about what to do to change the culture at the school level. This program does exactly that. Contact us for more information.
